Co-Owner, Al Mac’s Diner, FRCC member

Opportunity is something that is very important to a small business. As the new owners of Al Mac’s Diner, my children and I have had the opportunity to reopen the diner and bring back to the people of the area this Fall River institution. As business owners, deciding where to put every dollar was very crucial. At Al Mac’s Diner Return on Investment is something we are conscious of everyday. We have found that our investment in a membership with the Bristol County Chamber of Commerce has provided us an exponential return that we would not have predicted.

One of the benefits of membership that we use the most is the Bristol County Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours networking events. Business After Hours allows my son Robert, daughter Laura, and myself to meet and interact with area business people in an informal, non-pressure setting where we were able to introduce ourselves, mingle, and get to know other members. What I did not realize was how important these networking events would be to Al Mac’s Diner. In fact, I now say that the Chamber caused us to change our 5-year business plan into our 3-month plan.

The opportunities that have presented themselves to Al Mac’s Diner have changed our overall business because of the Chamber. In some instances we have changed vendors to Chamber members, have investigated possibilities that we had not previously thought of and have gone in directions that we previously would not have thought possible if not for the contacts and recommendations by the Chamber and some of its members. We have been able to expand our services and now offer catering and it is now an integral part of our business. We have catered Business After Hours, meetings, private functions and breakfast buffets. We are proud to serve Great Grandpa Pannoni’s Spaghetti and Meatballs on the USS Massachusetts and cater breakfast and dinner for the hundreds of students and Boy Scouts that travel to Fall River each week. As members, we have expanded our business with the help and support from the Bristol County Commerce and are thankful for the opportunity!

I just wanted to take a moment and thank the Chamber for all of the help it has given me in my professional career. I have been a member for over 5 years and have had a tremendous amount of success in establishing connections and forging relationships. There have been many doors that have been opened to me thanks to my affiliation with the Chamber. In fact, being an ambassador with the Chamber is the reason why I am working for the great company I am with right now. If anyone is on the fence about becoming or staying on as a member of the Chamber, don’t hesitate! If you are willing and able to put a little time and effort into getting to know the people that work directly for the Chamber as well as the other members, you will see your business grow, guaranteed! You definitely get out of it, what you put in. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about the value of your membership.
